Uncharted: What Did You Think?

Uncharted, Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg

After spending year stuck in the limbo of development hell and experiencing even more delays thanks to the pandemic, Sony’s live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted video-game franchise is finally here. The film stars Tom Holland as famed treasure hunter Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, a friend, mentor, and father figure to Drake. Now that the film is officially playing in theaters, it’s time for you to let us know what you thought of it. Was Uncharted worth the wait? Did it prove to be a worthy adaptation of the video-game series? Let us know in the comments below!

Uncharted comes to us from Ruben Fleischer, who was the last in a revolving door of directors that included David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg, and Travis Knight. One by one, each director dropped out due to scheduling issues or creative differences, so it’s something of a minor miracle that the movie made it out of the gate at all. The official synopsis for Uncharted:

Street-smart thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother…but only if they can learn to work together.

In addition to Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor “Sully” Sullivan, Uncharted also stars Antonio Banderas as Santiago Moncada, a ruthless treasure hunter; Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, a fortune hunter and friend to Nathan and Sully; Tati Gabrielle as Jo Braddock, a mercenary working with Moncada; and Rudy Pankow as Samuel “Sam” Drake, Nathan’s long-long brother.
