Uma Thurman to star in supernatural drama series Chambers for Netflix

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It doesn't seem like a day can go by without some sort of news regarding one of Netflix's many upcoming TV series, and today is no different. Deadline reports that Uma Thurman has landed a starring role in Chambers, a supernatural drama which Netflix gave a 10-episode straight-to-series order earlier this year.

Created and written by Leah Rachel, Chambers will follows a "young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister." Uma Thurman will play Nancy, "the mother of the heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find out her daughter may not be as dead as she thought." Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will serve as an executive producer on the series and will also direct the pilot. Earlier this year, Leah Rachel compared the series to ROSEMARY'S BABY set in high-school while speaking with the Akron Beacon Journal, adding that Chambers will be "super dark and weird" and that her mother is "going to be horrified."

It follows a Native American girl who is 17. She gets a heart transplant from this rich suburban white girl, who you find out isn’t so perfect as everyone thought. There’s a lot about cultural appropriation. It has some Get Out vibes to it. It’s about growing up and sexuality and a whole lot more.

Chambers isn't Uma Thurman's only upcoming project which plays in the realm of the supernatural, as she's also set to appear in DOWN A DARK HALL as Madame Duret, the eccentric headmistress of the mysterious Blackwood Boarding School. DOWN A DARK HALL is set to hit select theaters, On Demand, and iTunes on August 17, 2018.
