Uma Thurman takes a role in Netflix supernatural drama Chambers

Earlier this year, we heard that Netflix had given a 10 episode series order to a supernatural drama titled Chambers. Now the series has found its first cast member, and it's an actress who has me even more interested in this series than I was before: Uma Thurman has signed on for a "starring role" on the show. She won't be playing the lead, but her character sounds like a prominent one.

Chambers was created by Leah Rachel, who will be serving as showrunner with Akela Cooper. The series will follow

a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister.

Thurman's character is Nancy, "the mother of the heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find out her daughter may not be as dead as she thought."

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will be directing the pilot for Chambers and executive producing the series with Rachel, Cooper, Stephen Gaghan, Winnie Kemp, and Wolfgang Hammer (who has an awesome name). Gomez-Rejon's previous credits include the 2014 version of THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN and multiple episodes of American Horror Story.

The idea of transplant recipients taking on the characteristics of their organ and limb donors isn't a new one (Eric Red's 1991 film BODY PARTS was based on that idea), but I'm looking forward to seeing how it will play out on Chambers.
