UK trailer for GI JOE Retaliation gets tough with some new footage

MSN has an exclusive look at the new UK trailer for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, which has a few new slices of footage and dialogue. It’s not massively different, but still a good watch.

Check it out below:

I’m really liking what G.I. JOE: RETALIATION is bringing to the table. I loathed GIJOE: THE RISE OF COBRA at a cellular level. I’m a child of the 80’s and grew up with GI JOE in all their 3.75″ glory, so it was massively disappointing to see so much of their allure sucked out and replaced with gadgets and space suits.

I was severely apprehensive when John Chu (STEP UP films) came on board to direct, but holy crap, you can’t deny the badassery that the footage for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION brings. Chu seems to have embraced the varied costumes to an extent and the addition of a new Cobra Commander with mirror mask helmet is straight up awesome in a can. I look forward to hearing his raspy voice talk about killing the joes. Or ordering a pizza.

Speaking to MTV, Chu had this to say about his interpretation of Cobra Commander:

“There are a couple things I really wanted to do in this movie. One of those things was reinvent Cobra Commander, to do it the way I remember him and take him to the next level. To me, Cobra is one of the most iconic villains of all time. I just wanted to know that was him. I wanted to make him more badass than ever.

We got to design him from the ground up. Creating the mask, we went through 35 revisions and how his voice was going to be, how reflective it was going to be. He’s definitely a huge presence, and I can’t wait. I’m sort of trying to hide a little bit, so people when they come don’t know what to expect from Cobra, which is sort of the fun part of it.”

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, starring Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson, Ray Park, Walton Goggins, Arnold Vosloo, D.J. Cotrona, and Jonathan Pryce opens fire on June 29, 2012.

Oh…hello Adrianne Palicki…
