Back in December we brought you the poster and trailer for Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó’s trail-blazing blend of horror, thriller, and riveting socially conscious drama WHITE GOD, and today we've got the UK quad for you to lay eyes upon.
WHITE DOG was a hit at the Cannes Film Festival, winning the Un Certain Regard Best Film award, and while we wouldn’t consider this to be an out-and-out horror film, it’s way too unique to ignore. I'm certainly curious to peep this one.
What it's about:
A story of the indignities visited upon animals by their supposed ‘human superiors,’ but it’s also an brutal, beautiful metaphor for the political and cultural tensions sweeping contemporary Europe. When young Lili is forced to give up her beloved dog Hagen, because it’s mixed-breed heritage is deemed ‘unfit’ by The State, she and the dog begin a dangerous journey back towards each other. At the same time, all the unwanted, unloved and so-called ‘unfit’ dogs rise up under a new leader, Hagen, the one-time housepet who has learned all too well from his ‘Masters’ in his journey through the streets and animal control centers how to bite the hands that beats him…
WHITE GOD will hit UK theaters later this month on February 27, and finally arrive in US theaters thanks to Magnolia on March 27th, 2015. It stars Zsófia Psotta, Sándor Zsótér and Lili Horváth.
