I can't wait for GODZILLA VS. KONG. As a kid, I was even a fan of the original, goofy Japanese version from the '60s – but I still can't wait to see a more serious, pulse-pounding version that isn't so cheesy and campy (though, again, that also has its charm). And who else to bring that kind of tone to life than the seemingly omnipresent blockbuster composer Junkie XL, who is known for his intense, action-heavy scores for MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and the Batman bits of BATMAN V SUPERMAN – among a ton of other films in that vein.
Anyway, it's been confirmed that Junkie is taking over for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS' Bear McCreary on director Adam Wingard's Instagram story, which showed off XL's personal studio (and was saved on Twitter by user KaijuNewsOutlet):
And here's the official synopsis:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity's fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans' origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
Meanwhile, the two titans are still on a collision course to theaters November 19th – though we'll keep you updated of any changes.
So what do you think? Any fans of Junkie XL? If so, excited for his GODZILLA VS. KONG score? Either way, sound off below!
