Maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention to Donald Sutherland's career lately, because I was surprised to see him turn up in the trailer for the modestly budgeted horror movie ALONE. I wasn't aware he was working on projects like this, but I'm not going to miss out on the chance to watch 80+ year old Donald Sutherland kill some zombies.
Directed by Johnny Martin from a script by Matt Naylor, ALONE also stars Tyler Posey, Summer Spiro, and Robert Ri'chard. The synopsis:
When an outbreak hits, Aidan barricades himself inside his apartment and starts rationing food. His complex is overrun by infected Screamers, and with the world falling apart into chaos, he is left completely alone fighting for his life.
Martin also produced the film with Rabih Aridi and Anne Jordan.
I think most genre fans are feeling a bit tired of zombies right now, but the trailer embedded below makes ALONE look like it might be worth checking out. There have been too many zombie projects in the last ten or fifteen years, but some stand out from the pack as something special and hopefully ALONE will be one of them.
Just the fact that it has Donald Sutherland killing zombies already makes it kind of special.
