Before you get too excited, you should know right away that the trailers you're about to watch are for a short film directed by Martin Scorsese, which is basically a commercial for two casinos in Manila, Philippines. If you remember back in 2007 Scorsese did something similar by making a short film that was not only a homage to the works of Alfred Hitchcock, but also a commercial for Freixenet Cava champagne. I’ve included that video as well but first up, let’s drool over the collaboration between the greatest director and three of the greatest actors.

During the seventies, eighties and nineties, Scorsese’s top guy was Robert De Niro. In the past twenty years it has be Leonardo DiCaprio. Sadly, the three have never works together; that is until now. Scorsese has directed these commercials, which star DiCaprio and De Niro as themselves, competing for a role. They work as trailers for a short film called THE AUDITION that will reportedly also co-star Brad Pitt (he appeared only in a slight tease of what’s to come).

Here’s what Brett Ratner, a producer on the project, had to say:

This short film is a historic event because it is the first film ever to star such legendary actors as Robert De Niro, Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt in one film together. Mr. Lawrence Ho and Mr. James Packer served as Executive Producers and convinced iconic filmmaker Martin Scorsese to direct the film whom I was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with. The cooperation between Mr. Scorsese and the Melco Crown Entertainment brand is synergistic because of the fact that Mr. Scorsese directed the film “Casino” starring Robert DeNiro. Mr. Scorsese has collaborated with Mr. DeNiro on 8 films and with Mr. DiCaprio on 5 films and is working with Mr. Pitt for the first time. Our hope is that the trailer for “The Audition” gives audiences an early look into what will surely be an important cinematic experience directed by one of the most culturally influential directors in the history of Hollywood films. I look forward to the Global Premiere of the film at the launch of Studio City in mid-2015.

What did you think about this historic cinematic moment? Personally, it just made me want to see all four of them make a film together; throw in Pacino and Joe Pesci while they’re at it.
