TWC-Dimension says hello to The Bye Bye Man; Stacy Title to direct

A creepy urban legend is making its way to the big screen, and with it comes the hopes of launching a new horror icon.

TWC-Dimension has acquired worldwide rights to Intrepid Pictures’ supernatural thriller THE BYE BYE MAN, based on the short story "The Bridge To Body Island" by Robert Damon Schneck, according to Deadline. While not much is known about THE BYE BYE MAN at this point, we do know that the story chronicles…

…the harrowing events experienced by three Wisconsin college students in the early 1990s.

No other details were announced, but Jonathan Penner (LET THE DEVIL WEAR BLACK) adapted the script and Stacy Title will direct. TWC-Dimension said there is a proceed-to-production commitment on this one.

Trevor Macy will produce through his Intrepid Pictures banner with Marc D. Evans and David Prior executive producing. Intrepid is behind genre pics OCULUS and the upcoming SOMNIA, both via Relativity.

Matthew Signer, EVP Production and Creative Affairs at TWC-Dimension says:

“There are only a few truly scary and iconic characters within this genre, and we think the Bye Bye Man has the potential to be the next one. Trevor and Stacy will be great partners in bringing this fantastic and terrifying script to the screen.”

I've never heard the legend of The Bye Bye Man, but I did find a little bit of info on the story HERE. It's an interesting read that should make for a compelling and scary film. I'm looking forward to hearing more about THE BYE BYE MAN. We'll keep you posted.
