EPISODE 15: East
THE HOOK: Carol’s departure starts a chain reaction that puts more of our group outside the walls of Alexandria and straight into trouble.
The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS, so I don’t recommend reading this if you haven’t watched this episode
THE LOWDOWN: Well, I guess we can’t ask for more of a setup for the finale than that. But first things first, Carol’s damsel in distress moment. If you stop and think about it, we don’t get many small action scenes like that one. It was short and to the point, sure, but this is why I love Carol and can’t stand to see the group without her. She’s a damn killing machine when pushed into a corner. Those fools had no idea what was coming. I don’t quite get how she let one live though. The bodies were picked over, you can tell by the cigarette package beside the gut-shot guy, but this implies that she went over all the bodies for supplies. If that’s the case, how’d she miss one guy still being alive? Either way, Carol vanished and the lone survivor was creeping behind Rick and Morgan—possibly following Rick back to Alexandria, or Morgan, hoping to get revenge on Carol. I’m assuming the fates of both Carol and Morgan will be a cliffhanger until next season.
Daryl is on a rampage, and I get it, but again, WTF man! Shit’s hitting the fan out there, you know this better than anyone. You want to split Dwight down the middle and I don’t blame you, but going at it alone just feels like suicide to me. And of course, Glenn, Michonne and Rosita go out after him. It’s like a never ending circle of bad decisions with these people. At least Glenn knows what he’s talking about, he spells it out for Daryl very clearly, and for a second there I thought Daryl was going to agree, but that’d be too easy. So he and Rosita storm off, and Glenn and Michonne get captured by Dwight. This guy sure is good at sneaking up on people, was he a damn navy seal before the apocalypse.
I thought Rick and Morgan would see action for sure, but that run in at the farm felt a tad off to me. One dude just hanging out trying to find a horse? Umm, okay. I did however, enjoy Morgan’s coming clean about the Wolf situation. The look on Rick’s face was priceless, I thought for a minute there he wasn’t to clock the shit out of Morgan, but he took it very well. It was a cool moment between the two, and I feel that Rick really doesn’t want to lose Morgan. Again, I don’t think we’ll find out until next season, but I have a feeling Morgan is key to bringing Carol back both mentally and physically.
THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 6’s fifteenth episode left us hanging by a thread. Rick gets back alive and well, but Michonne and Glenn aren’t so lucky. Add to that, Daryl and Rosita think they’re sneaking in to save the day, but Dwight the one man f*cking commando dupes them yet again. Seriously, I want this clown to die. It doesn’t help that it looked like he killed Daryl. I know, I know, it looked that way on purpose for “wow factor”, but it’s still pretty damn unsettling. Then there’s the whole Maggie thing. Baby troubles? I don’t know if that happens in the comics (I don’t remember), but it feels like added drama for the sake of drama. That’s not me being heartless, I just don’t feel it was necessary. Alright folks, the cards are all on the table, and next week we have a ninety minute finale that’s bound to leave a mark or two (snicker). Can’t wait, baby, can’t wait!
ZOMBIE KILL OF THE WEEK: Rick saves Morgan with a great knife to the head kill, but c’mon, Carol’s all out machine gun madness deserves the win.
BLOOD AND GORE: There’s more than enough blood to go around tonight, along with some gut chewing and face stabbing.
COOLEST SCENE: I’m torn, I loved Rick’s final words to Morgan about the powerbar, but I also really loved conversation he had with Abraham about the fear of getting close to someone again.
