Tucker & Dale vs Evil director to helm Netflix’s The Hills Have Eyes for You

If you've never watched TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL, then you are seriously missing out. The horror/comedy starred Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine as a pair of well-meaning hillbillies who get mistaken for killers by a group of clueless college students. It's bloody, hilarious, and full of heart, and writer/director Eli Craig will be teaming up with Netflix for his next horror/comedy.

According to Deadline, Eli Craig is slated to helm THE HILLS HAVE EYES FOR YOU, and while the outlet doesn't have many details on the project, Craig told them that it's "a unique underdog love story with genre bending scares and a lot of laughs. I think I'll be in my element for this one." The script hails from David Stieve, who co-wrote BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON, a mockumentary/horror/comedy which dealt with a documentary crew following an aspiring serial killer who modeled himself according to slasher film conventions. Producer Dan Farah of Farah Films added that THE HILLS HAVE EYES FOR YOU is "a fresh and fun love story set against the backdrop of an elevated horror comedy."

Getting back to TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL, there have been rumblings of a sequel for many years with Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine slated to return, but there hasn't been much movement on the project since the script failed to live up to expectations. While speaking with Broke Horror Fan more than a year ago, Labine said that while the sequel is still a possibility, he "wouldn't call it a film sequel" as they're "in development with a couple things right now." The actor assured fans that the story isn't done being told, adding "It’s just a matter of timing. We’re going to get something to the fans, because that’s really the only reason we want to do it. No one’s getting rich off this thing. [laughs] Alan and I have always been like, 'Whatever we do has to be for the people that stuck with it and made it what it is.' That’s all the fans. Hopefully something will come to fruition."
