True Detective Casting: Alexandra Daddario and Matthew McConaughey

Have you seen HBO’s TRUE DETECTIVE yet? If not, then that’s something you need to get on rather quick. It’s a damn good show. After seeing this, I can say with certainty that television has surpassed movies as far as quality is concerned. Two of the actors from the show have joined new film projects. One of them is a household name, and the other will be.

First, we have Matthew McConaughey who has signed on to Gus Van Sant‘s SEA OF TREES. Chris Sparling (BURIED) penned the script. Here’s a synopsis:

An American man (McConaughey) who takes a journey into the infamous “Suicide Forest” at the foothills of Mount Fuji with the intention of taking his own life. When he is interrupted by a Japanese man (Ken Watanabe) who has had second thoughts about his own suicide, and is trying to find his way out of the forest, the two begin a journey of reflection and survival.

Both McConaughey and Watanabe have took direction from Christopher Nolan, but neither has been in a Van Sant flick. This one on premise alone has made it to my must see list.

Second is the most gorgeous Alexandra Daddario. Recently our servers went into a frenzy when we posted a particular clip on our Movie Hotties site. If you haven’t seen the show, I suggest you don’t go because it gives something away. She kind of reminds me of Tiffani Amber Thiessen from her 90s hay days.

Anyway, Daddario’s beauty aside, the actress has been cast alongside Dwayne Johnson in SAN ANDREAS. Brad Peyton (JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND) is the helmer on this one.

Synopsis:

Johnson plays a chopper pilot who sets out to rescue his estranged daughter after a massive earthquake hits California.

My guess is that Daddario is playing the daughter though they don’t mention her role here.
