The cast of HBO‘s True Detective: Night Country is bursting at the seams with solid additions to the gritty crime series. John Hawkes (Deadwood), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1), Finn Bennett (The Nevers), and Anna Lambe (The Grizzlies) will star in the new season. The fourth chapter of the anthology also stars Jodie Foster (Silence of the Lambs, Contact) and Kali Reis (Catch the Fair One).
Issa López is directing, writing, and showrunning True Detective: Night Country. The series’ fourth installment occurs “when the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, and the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunting truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
According to Deadline, Hawkes plays Hank Prior, a police officer with old grudges hiding under a quiet surface. Eccleston stars as Ted Corsaro, the regional Chief of Police and a political animal with a long history tying him to Liz Danvers (Foster). Shaw comes onto the scene as Rose Aguineau, a survivalist with a past full of secrets. Bennett plays Peter Prior, Liz Danvers’ protégé and apprentice. Finally, Lambe acts as Kayla Malee, a young nurse with little patience for anybody that messes with her family.
Many were uncertain if True Detective would return to HBO, though it’s become clear that True Detective: Night Country is in full swing. While there’s no shortage of crime-related drama on TV, True Detective excels at exposing audiences to the darker side of the human condition. With plenty of twists and turns lurking in the shadows, this incredible cast had better grow eyes in the back of their heads.
