Because it has been so damn long since we've heard a peep from the upcoming adaptation of the monster-themed graphic novel ENORMOUS, how about a refresher? Way back we learned that Andre Ovredal, the Norwegian director of the found footage indie TROLLHUNTER, would be teaming up with producer Adrian Askarieh to adapt Image Comics' monster tale. And after that we really haven't heard much. Today a few more details have come to light as Godzilla Universe recently caught up with Tim Daniel, writer of the graphic novel, who shed some good news on the film adaptation.
"Here’s what I know and I’m at liberty to share," Daniel tells the site. "Enormous is being actively adapted for the screen. Producer Adrian Askarieh’s Prime Universe Films is heavily involved. The first step he took was to recruit writer-director André Øvredal of Trollhunter – which made me swoon. I’ve seen several treatments and scripts to date. They are fantastic, in keeping with the spirit of the story established in the One Shot while building smartly upon the world of Enormous. For our part, Mehdi Cheggour (artist) and I have contributed a wealth of development materials to the production, including some fresh designs on the creatures. And both Adrian and André have been wonderful with concern to seeking our input or sharing information."
So it sounds like things are still moving along quite nicely for ENORMOUS, which is great news because the world could always use more giant monsters, don't you think?
