Bella Heathcote, Lucas Till (STOKER), and Penelope Mitchell (HEMLOCK GROVE) have just signed on for the new psychological thriller THE CURSE OF DOWNERS GROVE, to be directed by award-winning filmmaker Derick Martini from a screenplay by Martini and Bret Easton Ellis (AMERICAN PSYCHO).
A small midwestern town is gripped by a curse that claims the life of one high school senior every year. Chrissie Swanson, played by Heathcote, fears she is the next victim of THE CURSE OF DOWNERS GROVE.
A cursed town. Teens in peril. It sounds like the makings of another CW series or, even worse, another TWILIGHT-inspired young adult novel being primed for a film adaptation, but with Bret Easton Ellis working on the screenplay we should be able to expect so much more than your regular cookie-cutter, formulaic storyline.
THE CURSE OF DOWNERS GROVE is currently in development and will head before the cameras in the spring.
Bella Heathcote is easy on the eyes, wouldn’t ya say?
