Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor made the jump into film composing with director David Fincher‘s THE SOCIAL NETWORK in 2010. Working alongside fellow composer and frequent collaborator Atticus Ross (THE BOOK OF ELI, BROKEN CITY), the duo again worked with Fincher on 2011’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, providing more of their moody electronic vibes for the dark subject matter. Now, it appears that both Reznor and Ross will lend their considerably eerie musical charms to Fincher’s next, GONE GIRL, as indicated by Reznor on Twitter:
and yes, Atticus and I are scoring David Fincher’s upcoming Gone Girl!

As a big fan of scores and soundtracks in general, I think this is good news. It may not be surprising, seeing as Fincher has stuck with the pair for his last two films, but it does bode well for the film, which is a dark mystery that will benefit greatly from a Reznor/Ross collaboration. I’ve remained spoiler free of anything related to GONE GIRL thus far and hope to stay that way as best I can, but this is news I’m happy to hear.
GONE GIRL hits theaters on October 3, 2014.
