Director Brad Bird brought his expertise to Pixar with the likes of THE INCREDIBLES and RATATOUILLE, and won most folks over with his move into the live-action realm with MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL. He was one of the names rumored to be up for directing STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and for good reason! Now the official theatrical trailer is here for TOMORROWLAND, so you can judge for yourself if it was worth the wait!
When the latest poster (of which you can see below) debuted last week, I discussed the fact that Bird and Co. were keeping a pretty tight lid on what they were willing to show us in video form. Now that a theatrical trailer has hit, I think I've seen all I need to in order to check this one out in theaters. In a Q&A today, Brad Bird stated that, "I was not inspired by old science fiction as much as I was inspired by how the future used to be seen in contrast to how it's seen today." I think that's the very essence of what Tomorrowland is, and Bird as a director that pretty much guarantees a theatrical viewing from me. It looks like we may have a very different yet fun adventure in TOMORROWLAND when compared to the likes AGE OF ULTRON or JURASSIC WORLD. At least, I hope that's the case!
Brad Bird's TOMORROWLAND will be released on May 22, 2015.
