Awards season is in full swing, and the best of the best are being crowned with gold. But what about the terrible movies? Do they not deserve praise for being so hysterically bad and bringing us hours of ironic joy? They sure do, so please gaze upon this year’s Razzie nominations. This year the consensus is pretty firm, as FIFTY SHADES DARKER, TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT, THE EMOJI MOVIE, BAYWATCH and THE MUMMY dominated virtually every category, with movies like BOO! 2: A MADEA HALLOWEEN, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES, and DADDY’S HOME 2 sneaking a few in.
Here is the full list of nominees:
WORST PICTURE
WORST ACTRESS
WORST ACTOR
WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR
WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
WORST SCREEN COMBO
WORST REMAKE, RIP-OFF, OR SEQUEL
WORST DIRECTOR
WORST SCREENPLAY
Sadly, the movie MOTHER! snagged a whopping three nominations, which is three more than it deserves. Certainly, it was WAY better than movies that got fewer or just as many nominations, like THE CIRCLE, and PIRATES 5, and beyond better than some of the movies that aren't even present at all, like BRIGHT, KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD, THE BOOK OF HENRY and CHIPS. That rant aside, the other movies on here indeed belong here. THE MUMMY, TRANSFORMERS, and BAYWATCH were nigh unwatchable, and EMJOI MOVIE is basically the stuff of bad movie legend. I hope to see all three of those movies walk away from something on Razzie night. They earned it!
The Razzies will announce their winners on March 3, a day before the Oscars.
