There has been talk for what seems like years now of an American remake of TRAIN TO BUSAN with James Wan producing and Gary Dauberman penning the script. But whatever's happening on that end, today we're hearing that director Yeon Sang-ho's sequel TRAIN 2 BUSAN – just kidding it's really called PENINSULA – is preparing for a summer 2020 release.
A source from the distribution company ‘NEW’ said:
We are preparing for the market release by summer 2020, but the schedule for international release has not been decided yet.
PENINSULA will continue the story of the original as the characters try their best to leave Korea after it is infested by zombies. It stars Kang Dong Won, Lee Jung Hyun, Lee Re, Kwon Hae Hyo, Kim Min Jae, and Goo Kyo Hwan. Gong Yoo will not return in the sequel.
TRAIN TO BUSAN centers on:
Sok-woo, a father with not much time for his daughter, Soo-ahn, are boarding the KTX, a fast train that shall bring them from Seoul to Busan. But during their journey, the apocalypse begins, and most of the earth's population become flesh craving zombies. While the KTX is shooting towards Busan, the passenger's fight for their families and lives against the zombies – and each other.
The film is written and directed by Sang-ho Yeon (his first live-action film) and stars Yoo Gong, Soo-an Kim, Yu-mi Jung, and Dong-seok Ma. If for some reason you or one of your loved ones don't already own the film on Blu-ray you can snag a copy over on Amazon right over HERE.
