It’s been slaying at the box office, so it’s no surprise that HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGONis getting a sequel.
CEO of Dreamworks Animation Jeffrey Katzenberg announced the sequel after the first quarter financial results came out, “2010 is off to a strong start, thanks in large part to the performance of ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’ which – having grossed nearly $375 million to date in worldwide box office – has become DreamWorks Animation’s next franchise. We plan to release the sequel theatrically in 2013.”
Katzenberg also raved about everyone’s favorite technology powerhouse: 3D, “3D continues to have a tremendous impact on the industry at large and we are now looking forward with great anticipation to bringing ‘Shrek Forever After,’ the final chapter in our beloved ‘Shrek’ series and the first in 3D, to audiences across the globe next month.” The only film so far where 3D really worked for me was AVATAR, other than that I don’t see the point in releasing every film in 3D. Plus it gives me an awful headache.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON is still staying strong holding the #1 spot at the box office. By now it’s grossed nearly $180 million dollars and will continue to climb. Everyone down for the sequel?
