Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport, and Ludi Lin are among the cast members of the upcoming fifth season of the anthology series Black Mirror, which will be premiering on Netflix next month.
Created and written by Charlie Brooker, who executive produces the show with Annabel Jones, Black Mirror is
an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
The first two seasons of Black Mirror consisted of just three episodes, and while the third and fourth seasons were expanded to six episodes each the fifth season is returning to the three episode format.
A trailer has arrived online to give a preview of the three stories that will be told in season 5, and that can be seen below. Along with the trailer comes a handful of images from the season, which are also included in this article.
For me, Black Mirror is still one of those shows I need to catch up on, and the season 5 trailer gives me another push toward finally starting to watch it.
All three episodes of Black Mirror season 5 will be available to view on the Netflix streaming service as of June 5th.
