Trailer: South Korean MMA exorcist film The Divine Fury

Possession films involving priests are one of my least favorite types of horror movies. (Those not involving priests, like THE EVIL DEAD or DEMONS, that's more my speed.) There are some exceptions, THE EXORCIST is great, but in general priests conducting exorcisms is not something I really enjoy watching. So if writer/director Joo-hwan "Jason" Kim's upcoming possession film THE DIVINE FURY was just that all over again, I wouldn't have much interest in it.

But Kim went and caught my attention by having one of the characters in his movie be an MMA fighter. Now that's the sort of person I want to see take on demons.

Starring Park Seo-jun, Ahn Sung-ki, and Woo Do-hwan, THE DIVINE FURY has the following synopsis:

After losing his father at a young age in a terrible accident, Yong-hu (Park) abandons his Christian faith and chooses to only believe in himself. Now as an adult, Yong-hu is a champion fighter and has everything he has ever wanted, that is until mysterious wounds appear in the palms of his hands. He solicits help from a local priest Father Ahn (Ahn), hoping the priest can help relieve him of the painful markings only to find himself in the middle of a dangerous fight against otherworldly evil forces seeking to wreak havoc on the human world.

The film is set to be released in South Korea on July 31st. Well Go USA will then be bringing THE DIVINE FURY to the US with a limited theatrical release beginning on August 16th. A VOD release will follow.
