So PETER RABBIT is an upcoming live-action/animated hybrid kid's film from Sony. Nothing in that sentence sounds good. Anyway, it's based on old children's books from the early 1900s, where Peter is at one point beaten with a switch by his uncle, and his sister marries their cousin. I'm sure these plot points will figure in the new film somehow.
Speaking of the new film, it looks like it's going be…just awful, right? Did they really have to Poochie him up and make him some sort of "party animal" (which I'm sure will show up as a tagline on a poster at some point)? Not only that, but I was never really a fan of James Corden (though he seems nice enough), and everything just seems so perfunctory. At least Domhnall Gleeson looks like he's having fun hamming it up (with a pig no less).
Anyway, here's the official synopsis:
Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door (Rose Byrne). James Corden voices the character of Peter with playful spirit and wild charm, with Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, and Daisy Ridley performing the voice roles of the triplets, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.
So any fans of PETER RABBIT out there? If so, what do you think of the new film? Either way, sound off below!
Meanwhile, PETER RABBIT will hop into theaters February 9th, 2018.
