Director Vincent Masciale's FEAR INC. is a film we've been keeping a close eye on ever since it started production back in August of last year. A couple months ago, we got to see a promotional clip from the movie that featured a character played by Abigail Breslin enduring a harrowing situation, and now, with Electric Entertainment set to release the movie onto VOD on October 21st, a trailer has been set loose into the world and can be seen below.
Written by Luke Barnett, FEAR INC. is based on a short film that the director and writer collaborated on three years ago. The feature expansion of the original concept has the following synopsis:
What if there was a company you could call that, for a premium, will bring your fears to life. You don’t have to leave your house, your office, or your vacation; the scares are customized to your tastes and arrive at your doorstep when you least expect it. But like texting an ex at 2am, what sounds like a great idea at the time, can end up getting you killed.
When horror movie enthusiast Joe Foster and his girlfriend, Lindsey Gains, are handed a business card for such a company, Joe’s curiosity gets the best of him. As the Fear, Inc experience seemingly begins, scares start popping up right out of Joe’s favorite horror movies, quickly turning him into a kid in a candy store. If the kid was a self righteous thirty year old and the candy store was the prop room from SAW. After a friend explains the company’s dangerous reputation, his rollercoaster of a journey goes from light hearted fun to uncomfortably realistic as things take a major turn for the worse. Joe’s sense of reality spirals out of control as he’s forced to take responsibility for his actions, no matter the cost.
Lucas Neff, Caitlin Stasey, Chris Marquette, Stephanie Drake, Patrick Renna, Eric Lange, Naomi Grossman, and Mark Moses star with Breslin.
The set-up of FEAR INC. provided the filmmakers the chance to do something really fun, and judging by the trailer they have lived up to its potential. Genre fans will spot several references to popular horror movies packed in there, including a Freddy Krueger costume that's being worn by a character who interacts with another played by Chris Marquette – who had to deal with Freddy himself in FREDDY VS. JASON.
Check out the trailer below and see if FEAR INC. is a movie you'd like to add to your October viewing list.
