Scare Package: New horror anthology set in old school video store

Seven directors. Seven tales of terror. Zero working cell phones.

A new horror-comedy anthology is headed our way this summer called SCARE PACKAGE. The splatter-packed throwback pays homage to horror classics with seven hilarious, meta tales of terror, each exploring (and subverting) different genre tropes. All wrapped around every horror fan’s beloved stomping grounds: an old school video store. And today we have the flick's first trailer and killer official poster to share with you guys.

Chad, the owner of Rad Chad’s Horror Emporium, recounts a series of bone-chilling, blood-splattering, and gleefully ghoulish tales in an effort to illustrate the rules of the horror genre to his newest employee. Each story takes aim at different tropes, paying homage to and subverting the timeless clichés of the beloved genre. Here's the official synopsis for the sake of being thorough:

Chad Buckley is a horror aficionado, and he's lonely. Chad spends his days at his struggling genre video store arguing with his only regular customer, Sam. When an unsuspecting applicant shows up, Chad begins to teach him about the rules of horror and his video store at large, much to the chagrin of Sam. During Chad's on-boarding process, we weave in and out of different hilarious horror shorts, each one geared at a different set of horror tropes. As this new applicant learns the ropes, he begins to suspect Chad of something sinister, but we quickly learn that he may have a secret of his own.

The cast includes Noah Segan (KNIVES OUT, LOOPER), Baron Vaughn (MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3K) Chase Williamson (BEYOND THE GATES, JOHN DIES AT THE END), Jocelyn DeBoer (GREENER GRASS), Jeremy King (CAMERA OBSCURA), Dustin Rhodes (WWE Legend).

Creator Aaron B. Koontz says:

I’m a big fan of anthology films but knew we had to change the game up a bit. So we gathered this hungry group of diverse, super-talented horror enthusiasts and asked them to subvert these well-known horror tropes while also paying homage to them. In the end, it made for a unique experience that I cannot wait for audiences to discover. They’ve never seen an anthology quite like this!

Noah Segan adds:

Sergio Corbucci. Akira Kurosawa. Melvin Van Peebles. These were some of the filmmakers that inspired SCARE PACKAGE. When the Producers found out most of them were dead, I got the call. There’s no greater honor than being alive in order to be a part of this incredible anthology. Working with Frank Garcia Hejl to put together our all-star team of funny people, and then forcing them into grotesque makeup and stunts, truly taught me that while not everyone can direct, I suspect that I did. We hope you find M.I.S.T.E.R. to be as funny as we do, or at least you’re really ticked off by it!
