Kingdom

Netflix is set to put an interesting twist on the concept of TV shows about the walking dead with their upcoming series Kingdom, a Korean production that drops flesh-eating zombies into a historical period piece setting.

Starring Doona Bae, Ji-Hoon Ju, and Seung-ryong Ryu, the series has the following synopsis:

In a kingdom defeated by corruption and famine, a mysterious rumor of the king’s death spreads, as does a strange plague that renders the infected immune to death and hungry for flesh. The crown prince, fallen victim to a conspiracy, sets out on a journey to unveil the evil scheme and save his people.

I'm not generally hyped to see new zombie projects since AMC keeps me covered when it comes to zombie entertainment – there aren't many weekends that go by without an episode of The Walking Dead or Fear the Walking Dead popping up. Kingdom is an exception that has me very intrigued, mainly due to the unique setting.

I'll have to give this one a look when it becomes available for viewing on Netflix on January 25th.

Check out the trailer below and see if Kingdom looks like a show you'd like to watch:
