Before tackling the Star Wars universe director Rian Johnson was known for his original, intelligent and often highly entertaining films like BRICK and LOOPER, and this year he gets back to those roots with his new murder mystery, KNIVES OUT. The first trailer for the highly anticipated movie with an awesome cast that includes Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Toni Collette, Don Johnson and more is here, and it prepares us for an extra dose of murder and intrigue to go along with our family dinners this Thanksgiving.

Along with the others mentioned above the movie stars an impressive lineup including Ana de Armas, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Katherine Langford, Christopher Plummer, Riki Lindhome, M. Emmet Walsh, Frank Oz and more.
This was one of my most anticipated movies of the year simply on paper before this trailer, what with all the talent involved in front of and behind the camera. Plus, who doesn't love a movie where snobby rich folk gets what's coming to them in the form of murder and betrayal? But with this trailer, it has a place firmly solidified in my must-see of the fall season, because wow, does this look like a great time. You got Craig showing off more range with a Southern accent (see LOGAN LUCKY for more brilliance), Evans being a total prick and Collette, Curtis and more looking as brilliant as always. There's so much to love in the trailer alone, so even among all the blockbusters coming out this fall, Johnson and his ensemble have already carved out a place for this awesome mystery flick.

Here's the synopsis:
Acclaimed writer and director Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper, The Last Jedi) pays tribute to mystery mastermind Agatha Christie in KNIVES OUT, a fun, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect. When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death. With an all-star ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell, KNIVES OUT is a witty and stylish whodunit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.
