Netflix moves fast. It was only in mid-November when their streaming service acquired director Nic Mathieu's supernatural action thriller SPECTRAL, at which time the company announced that the film would be making its streaming debut on December 9th. That's this Friday, so Netflix has now released a trailer to get subscribers interested in checking out their acquisition… and maybe score some new subscribers who would like to check the movie out as well.

Starring James Badge Dale, Emily Mortimer, and Bruce Greenwood, and the film centers on

a brilliant DARPA scientist who embarks on a deadly mission with a Special Ops team of Delta Force soldiers into a battle-scarred, war-torn city, where mysterious phantom aggressors code-named Spectral have been causing inexplicable civilian deaths.

SPECTRAL was written by George Nolfi from a story crafted by Mathieu and Ian Fried.

The trailer can be seen below, and I'm left surprised that SPECTRAL didn't get wide theatrical play, as this looks like a well-polished, large scale militaristic take on GHOSTBUSTERS that would have been fun to see on the big screen. As it is, we'll be able to watch it on our home screens this weekend.
