You’re probably thinking this sounds like a pretty badass concept, but you may feel differently after seeing the trailer. JACK & DIANE, from director Bradley Rust Gray, features Juno Temple and Riley Keough as two girls who fall in love, but when faced with being apart, start to turn into hairy, toothy, violent beasts. Some of us liken this “change” to a certain monthly cycle, but in this film it’s likened to turning into a werewolf. Sometimes, it’s hard to know where the line is drawn…
The film also stars Kylie Minogue, who contributes original music to the film, along with Icelandic group Mum, and features stop-motion animation from Brother’s Quay.
Take a look:
Looks pretty odd to me, almost like LET THE RIGHT ONE IN only with lesbians/werewolves instead of hetero/vampires. It does have an interesting appeal, especially with the stop-motion, although we don’t see enough of it to get a firm grasp on how it’s used. Weird is the resounding feeling on this one. What say you?
Here’s the synopsis:
Jack and Diane, two teenage girls, meet on a summer day in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Bubbly and naïve, Diane’s charming innocence quickly begins to open tomboy Jack’s tough skinned heart. But when Jack discovers that Diane is moving at the end of the summer, she pushes her away. Diane is overwhelmed by her powerful new feelings, and they begin to manifest themselves in terrifying ways, causing unexplainable violent changes to her body. Young love is a monster – can Jack and Diane survive?
JACK & DIANE is slated to bring it’s hairy oddities to the big screen on November 2, 2012.
