We know what Ridley Scott can do within the sci-fi genre, and soon we'll get a chance to see how his son Luke Scott handles sci-fi. The younger Scott has made his feature directorial debut with MORGAN, a sci-fi thriller his father produced alongside Michael Schaefer and Mark Huffam.
The cast the Scotts assembled for this film is staggering: Kate Mara, THE WITCH's Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Paul Giamatti.
Scripted by Owen, MORGAN tells the story of
a corporate troubleshooter (Mara) who is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent “human,” who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.
Taylor-Joy plays the mysterious Morgan.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Luke Scott compared the film to the likes of FRANKENSTEIN and METROPOLIS in that it's about "the creation of a being that is greater than the creator."
The trailer can be viewed below and is refreshingly, intriguingly sparse on details. 20th Century Fox will be releasing MORGAN on September 2nd.
