Chase Smith's horror film DARK ROADS 79 has been a long time coming. While IMDb lists it as a 2017 film (because it screened at Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema in 2017), we first caught word of it back in 2015. If you've been looking forward to DARK ROADS 79 since then, the good news is that the five year wait is about to come to an end.
Terror Films has acquired the distribution rights to the film and are planning to give it a digital release starting at the end of May. A wide digital roll out will occur over several months, with DARK ROADS 79 eventually being available for viewing through Tubi, Google Play, Prime Video, iTunes, and many others.
Smith wrote and directed the film, has an acting role in it, and wrote the original soundtrack. Smith's co-stars include April Bogenschutz, Eddie George, David Flannery, Jessica Sonneborn, and Bill Moseley.
The plot centers on
a southern rock band known as Dark Roads, whose time in the spotlight has come to an abrupt end. To find a new sound and regain their fame and fortune, they head to a secluded cabin to work on a new album. One by one, each band member begins to meet their demise and the survivors soon discover that the front man of the band sold his soul to the devil – for the fame and fortune they’ve enjoyed. Now, the time has come to pay back this debt with their souls!
Along with the announcement of Terror Films' distribution plans comes the release of a new trailer, which is embedded above. Check it out, and get ready for DARK ROADS 79.
