Not every Disney theme park attraction is able to pull off a successful big-screen adaptation. For every Pirates of the Caribbean, you get a Haunted Mansion, but that certainly won't stop Disney from trying. We've got another Disney theme park attraction making the leap to the big-screen next month with Jungle Cruise, but the future is looking a little more…spooky.
According to Collider, Scarlett Johansson is set to produce Disney's Tower of Terror movie, which is being developed as a starring vehicle for the actress. Know as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the attraction features a Rod Serling sound-alike who narrates as guests ride a spooky elevator that culminates in a chilling free fall drop. The ride was previously turned into a TV movie starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst in 1997, but I think we can assume it might receive a little more attention this time around. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Inside Out screenwriter Josh Cooley is onboard to pen the script. No director is attached at the moment, but Collider says that Disney will "aim high" due to Johansson's profile.
Scarlett Johansson will next be seen in Black Widow, which will be released in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access on July 9, 2021. As far as Disney's next theme park ride movie goes, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will star in Jungle Cruise, which hits theaters and Disney+ with Premier Access on July 30, 2021.
