Prime Video has announced that they will begin streaming their latest Blumhouse collaboration, the time travel slasher comedy Totally Killer, on October 6th – and while there isn’t a trailer available for the film just yet, they have unveiled a batch of first look images, and you can check those out at the bottom of this article!
Nahnatchka Khan (Always Be My Maybe) directed Totally Killer from a screenplay by Hocus Pocus 2 writer Jen D’Angelo, based on an original script by David Matalon (The Clearing) and Sasha Perl-Raver (Let’s Get Merried). The story follows Jamie (Shipka) whose mom, Pam, is terrorized by the resurgence of the Sweet Sixteen Killer — a masked maniac that slaughtered a group of teenage girls in the ‘80s. With the help of her friend Amelia, Jamie travels back in time to 1987 and teams up with the teen version of her mom (Holt) to try and stop the killer.
Shipka and Holt are joined in the cast by Kelcey Mawema as Jamie’s friend Amelia, Julie Bowen as the modern day Pam, Lochlyn Munro as Adult Blake, Charlie Gillespie as Teen Blake, Stephi Chin-Salvo as Marisa Song, Anna Diaz as Heather Hernandez, Jeremy Monn-Djasgnar as Teen Randy Finkle, Troy Leigh-Anne Johnson as Teen Lauren, Ella Choi as Teen Kara Molnar, Liana Liberato as Tiffany Clark, Nathaniel Appiah as Teen Doug Summers, and Jonathan Potts as Adult Chris Dubusage. Always Be My Maybe‘s Randall Park is also in there, playing Sheriff Dennis Lim.
Totally Killer was produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer. Khan and Chloe Yellin executive produce for Fierce Baby Productions, and Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold are executive producing for Blumhouse Television. Brian Parker is also an executive producer on the film, which has been rated R for “bloody violence, language, sexual material, and teen drug/alcohol use“.
Khan had this to say about the project: “The idea of a horror-comedy time-travel movie is, I’m gonna be honest, something I never thought of in my life. So when I was approached by the amazing creatives at Blumhouse and Amazon about Totally Killer, it was just so unique and exciting I had to be involved. And then add this incredible cast on top of that? Everybody get readyyyyyyy.”
Mix slashing and the ’80s together and you have my attention, so I will definitely be watching Totally Killer. Does this seem like a movie you’d like to watch? Let us know by leaving a comment below – but before you do, check out the first look images!
