Oh, Netflix, why must you forsake our beloved genre so?
As many of you know, I make it a point to showcase the cool genre flicks that join Netflix. I do this because quality flicks will hit and the streaming service will not even tell us fans (and subscribers) the films are available.
I recently gave my top five picks for hidden gems on Netflix, which you can check out HERE.
Anyways, here are the slim pickings for horror this May on Netflix.
I will do my best to keep you guys up-to-date on when flicks arrive unadvertised throughout the months as well. Until then, check out these quality flicks being added in May.
5/1 – DRIFTER (2017)
A pair of outlaw brothers seek temporary refuge in a desolate town inhabited by a small family of psychotic cannibalistic lunatics.
5/7 – STAKE LAND II (2016)
A revitalized Brotherhood sacks New Eden, forcing Martin out into badlands on his own.
5/8 – BEYOND THE GATES (2016)
In the wake of their father's mysterious disappearance, two estranged brothers — responsible Gordon and reckless John — reunite to sift through the contents of his stubbornly anachronistic VHS rental store. Among the inventory, they discover an interactive VCR board game, which their father viewed just before he vanished. Intrigued, the boys pop in the tape, press play, and soon discover that, far from an ordinary game, the video is a portal to a nightmarish alternate reality.
5/23 – DIG TWO GRAVES (2014)
After 13-year-old Jacqueline Mather (Samantha Isler) loses her brother in a mysterious drowning accident, she is soon visited by three moonshiners who offer to bring him back to life, but at a grim cost. As the dark history of her grandfather, Sheriff Waterhouse is unearthed, the true intentions of the moonshiners come to light.
Other flicks set to hit that aren't horror, but are still noteworthy are INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (5/22), DOCTOR STRANGE (5/30), and genre favorite TV series SUPERNATURAL will be added… Well, they don't actually tell us when. Season 12 is merely listed as “coming soon.”
Thanks for the heads up, Netflix.
Which flick are YOU looking forward to the most?
