Some studios like Warner Bros. are opting out from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, but there will still be plenty of major studios bringing their upcoming blockbusters to the Hall H stage. Not only is Marvel gearing up for a show, but now we’ve learned that Paramount may be flying their anticipated sequel, TOP GUN: MAVERICK, over to the festivities, with the cast expected to touch down as well.

Deadline reports that the cast “are already booking hotels and tickets” for the massive event – which may be difficult to do at this point unless you buy from the scalper dressed like Wicket the Ewok. TOP GUN 2 has an impressive cast, and among them who could be coming are Jon Hamm, Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer and Ed Harris. Naturally, the biggest star is Maverick himself, Tom Cruise, but the reports say the actor hasn’t confirmed his appearance yet given his busy schedule.

The report notes that part of the production took place in San Diego last year, meaning there’s some added significance for the team to make an appearance at the Con. As for what attendees could be treated to, word is there could be some footage shown, if only a little bit. The movie doesn’t open for another year on June 26, 2020, but the folks at CineEurope were shown two minutes from the movie only yesterday.
If there was anywhere TOP GUN was to start showing off some new footage, pictures, posters or anything else, Comic-Con would be the place to do it. Other than some leaked set photos the only thing we've seen of the movie is that teaser image at the top. Fans have been waiting years for more of the high-flying action and drama, and it's getting to be about time to show off a little something. Hamm recently talked about some of the "mind-blowing" tech and action they've been working for the sequel, so whatever footage they got featuring all that would be a good place to start.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK is in theaters June 26, 2020.
