Top 10: WTF endings #2

Written By Serena Whitney:

One of my biggest pet
peeves with movies these days are weird and confusing endings. (It seems to be a
trend now with the newer films.)  I don’t care if the ending is good or if it’s
bad, I just want a proper ENDING.  I think that’s the least the filmmakers could
do for the audience members who have taken two hours out of their lives to watch
their movies.

I, myself have never walked out
of a movie playing in the theatres. (Not even Fear Dot Com, people) The reason
for that is because I always want to know how the story will finish.  So, when I
finish watching a movie with a really confusing ending that gives me more
thoughts than a schizophrenic, my whole day is ruined. Why is it ruined you may
ask?  Well, I don’t enjoy my dinner after the movie because the meal consists of
talking endlessly about the screwed up ending, and/or if I’m lucky to get a
post-nooky session after a date, that’s usually wasted on me as well.

(I’m
usually secretly hoping he will be quicker than usual, so I can get him out and
jump on the computer to go on IMDB, and read the many theories of the ending
from the fanboys on the message boards.)   After that, I usually give myself a
good kick in the ass for not enjoying a night of great food and sex.
(Well…great food anyways) over a mind-boggling ending. (Geez…if I were a
man, I think I would go nuts!)

“Lucky” for
me, I’m in love with a genre that is notorious for giving the audience the “keep
you guessing” or “leave room for a sequel” endings.  So, here’s the list of
movies (both good and bad) that have left me

with quite a few of those wasted
food and almost note-worthy sex nights.

WARNING – DEAD SERIOUS
SPOILERS AHEAD!

5.
American Crime

This movie
had a really cool premise, yet it failed to resolve anything at the end.  All of
the main characters die. Bodies disappear, and the killer is never revealed.
That sucks! All though, as bad as the ending was, I really do recommend you
watching this just to see the purposely bad acting from Cary Elwes! ( By the way
for people that saw this flick…I thought the killers were Rachel Leigh Cook
and the cameraman. Hopefully I’m not way off with anyone else’s theories.)

4.
May

The final
few frames of the film are truly creepy. After she makes her “friend” from all
her friends/acquaintances body parts, and takes out her own eyeball (YEESH!) for
the final touches, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that thing’s hand move.
What was that? Was it her imagination thinking that her “doll” was alive? Or was
it really alive? All I can say to that is, CREEPY!

3.
Silent Hill

Since there
are a lot of you out there who haven’t seen this movie, and are waiting to watch
it on DVD, I will not reveal too much.  All I will say is the ending didn’t make
any sense to me. It was sad, anti-climatic and very depressing.  Is that what
happened in the game? God, I hope not.

If it was,
I’d be beyond pissed for playing it for so many hours for a conclusion like
that.  I’d really like to talk about it, but I don’t want to ruin the ending for
the rest of you that haven’t seen it. (At least the rest of you that have know
what I’m talking about.) Don’t let the ending stop you from seeing it though if
you haven’t seen the movie. It’s a must-see for horror fans.

2.
Return to Horror High

For a cheesy
slasher/comedy, this movie sure was hard to follow.  (After George Clooney gets
killed off, I pretty much was lost.) Especially the ending. So the Principal was
the killer? Although he was posing as the black janitor? Then you find out that
lots of the “killings” were a publicity stunt for the movie making it harder to
figure out if the killings were really real or not.

Then you
find out that the killer is still alive after being stabbed in the heart, and
shot by a weird and horny cop played by Marsha Brady from The Brady Bunch.  The
ending made no sense at all!!! Don’t even try to understand it or it will give
you a migraine.

1.
American Psycho

This ending
always makes me think harder than I did when I first watched the film,
Memento.
So, did he do it, or didn’t he?  At the end of the movie, we
discover that Jared Leto’s character is still missing, and is most likely dead.
Did Patrick Bateman kill him and the other victims, or was it all in his head?
Maybe, he killed some and fantasized the rest.

Maybe he did
in fact kill everyone, yet no one cared or no one thought a spoiled and rich
white guy could ever commit such heinous crimes, and it pissed him off that no
one acknowledged his actions. Damn it!  I’m confusing myself yet again! (I’m
going to go cross eyed if I keep this up.)Well at least one thing was certain.
He was indeed a complete PSYCHO.
