If you’re a horror genre regular like Tony Todd is, chances are you’re going to encounter a zombie or two over the course of your career. Todd has certainly run into his share of them, most famously in NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990 but several times since – he’s even in a movie called SKY SHARKS where Nazi zombies ride on the backs of flying sharks.
The latest “Todd vs. zombies” project is simply titled ZOMBIES, and was produced by flesh-eating ghoul pioneer George A. Romero’s son Cameron Romero. Written and directed by Hamid Torabpour, the film has the following synopsis:
When the world is in shambles, plagued by a zombie outbreak, only the strong will survive, but just how much determination will it take? Will Luke and his crew have enough ambition and ammunition to stay alive long enough to save the human race?
ZOMBIES will be shambling into theatres on October 21st, and a trailer has made its way online that consists almost entirely of Todd and co-stars Raina Hein and Steven Luke laying waste to undead hordes. There’s shootings and slashings and even a clever use of farming equipment. Looks fun enough for me to give it a chance.
