You can't keep Michael Myers down. After the commercial and critical success of last year's HALLOWEEN, it was revealed last week that we'll be getting not one, but two more HALLOWEEN sequels from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. The two sequels, titled HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS, will be shot back-to-back with production expected to kick off this September.

Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak are expected to reprise their roles for the sequels, which could also include a blast from the past in the form of Tommy Doyle, one of the young children who Laurie Strode (Curtis) babysat in the original John Carpenter film. Collider's Jeff Sneider and Variety's Justin Kroll dropped the scoop on the first installment of The Sneider Cut podcast, but you should still take it with a grain of salt for now. Sneider and Kroll added that Blumhouse actually reached out to Paul Rudd, who played the grown-up Tommy Doyle in HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, but as the actor will be busy shooting GHOSTBUSTERS, it wasn't an option, meaning that someone else will likely be cast. If this rumour proves to be true, I would have loved for Paul Rudd to return, and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that something can be worked out to make it possible. Are there any other original HALLOWEEN characters you'd like to see return for HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS?

David Gordon Green has previously said that HALLOWEEN ENDS will bring their three-film arc involving Laurie Strode and Michael Myers to a conclusion. "They’re never done telling the Frankenstein story, and at this point, Michael Myers is a classic movie monster. But our Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode/Michael Myers saga will be done," Green said. "The fun of it is also seeing it end and knowing that it can. If you just keep trying to elongate it and milk it for all of the money, then that’s boring." Although their intention is to bring the horror franchise to a close, Danny McBride says that there's really only one person who actually put an end to HALLOWEEN, and that's John Carpenter. "I think, ultimately, Michael Myers is such an iconic character that no one besides Carpenter is ever gonna have ownership over him," McBride said. "This will be our chance at the table to play with these characters, and I’m sure that, when we’re done, other people will come in and do the same thing, or have their own reinvention. Michael Myers is iconic enough to allow that, too. He’s like James Bond, where you can have different actors and different filmmakers. He represents something so simple and scary that he can be translated by lots of different people."

HALLOWEEN KILLS is set for an October 16, 2020 release with HALLOWEEN ENDS hitting theaters on October 15, 2021.
