That ’90s Show is set to bring back another familiar face. It has been announced that Tommy Chong, who played the resident hippie and World War II vet Leo, will be returning for the That ’70s Show sequel series on Netflix. He joins returning cast members Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp as well as the core original cast including Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama.
Tommy Chong confirmed the news during a recent interview with Dark Mark on YouTube but did wonder if he revealed it a bit too soon:
“They never gave me any instructions, so I don’t know if I’m supposed to be talking about it or not. I really don’t give a s*** to tell you the truth. That’s what I’m known for…I’m back as Leo.”
Netflix picked up That ’90s Show straight-to-series back in October. The show is set to take place in 1995 and it will revolve around Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric and Donna, as she visits her grandparents for the summer and bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids. The new cast members for the 10-episode multicamera include Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos. While the original cast will also be making an appearance, noticeably absent will be Danny Masterson, who played Hyde in the original series. He is dealing with some real-life legal woes that require his undivided attention.
