Tomb Raider, starring Alicia Vikander, gets a trailer and featurette

I don't have the most well-informed opinion on the TOMB RAIDER property. The most I ever played of the games were a couple demos, I watched the Angelina Jolie movies and didn't think they were very good, and that is the entirety of my TOMB RAIDER experience and knowledge. That said, I'm willing to give a new cinematic adaptation of the games a chance, and I'm interested in seeing Alicia Vikander become an action hero as the new Lara Croft.

Add in the fact that the new film was directed by COLD PREY's Roar Uthaug and has Walton Goggins as its villain, and yeah, I'm totally on board for this one.

Scripted by Geneva Dworet-Robertson, TOMB RAIDER is an origin story and has the following synopsis:

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father's global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he's truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can't understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, "Tomb Raider" is the story that will set a young and resolute Lara Croft on a path toward becoming a global hero.

TOMB RAIDER will be reaching theatres on March 16, 2018, and the marketing has truly begun with the release of a trailer and a featurette that goes into the origin story aspect of the film, Vikander's excitement at getting the chance to take the lead of an action adventure project, and her endeavor to turn herself into a badass to live up to the challenge.

I was already guaranteed to see this movie, but after watching the trailer and featurette I am feeling even more positive about it.
