If it were up to Tom Holland, the actor says that Timothee Chalamet would be his choice to take on the role of Harry Osborn in the MCU. The role was previously played by James Franco in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and by Dane DeHaan in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
During a recent chat with AP Entertainment, Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Holland, Jacob Batalon, and Zendaya were asked where the latter’s Dune co-star, Chalamet, would best fit into the MCU’s world of Spider-Man. Zendaya was the first to mention Chalamet as Harry Osborn by saying, “I don’t know, people want him to be Harry Osborn” and that’s when Holland elaborated further on the idea:
“He’d be a good Harry Osborn…I think it would be good to bring him in as a FOS (friend of Spider-Man) and then he kind of becomes bad. And then he could be a villain. He’d be a good villain.”
I actually would be pretty down with this idea because Chalamet is a more than capable actor to take this on and I think he would be good at handling the transition from good to evil with ease. The character does go from being Peter Parker’s best friend to an enemy when he takes on the Green Goblin persona that was once inhabited by his father, Norman Osborn. The one caveat here is that, during Dune’s press tour, Chalamet revealed a piece of advice given to him from one of his heroes. Chalamet stated that the person in question, whom he did not reveal, told him, “no hard drugs and no superhero movies.” Chalamet did audition for the role of Spider-Man before Holland was cast but he has gone on to make a name for himself in critically acclaimed indies like Call Me By Your Name, Lady Bird, Beautiful Boy, Little Women, and The French Dispatch. His role as Paul Atreides in Dune gave him a part in his first true blockbuster. I’m not sure if he would continue to heed the advice of his hero about no superhero movies but he’d certainly be a nice choice for Harry Osborn if it came up.
Do YOU think Timothee Chalamet would be a good Harry Osborn?
