It was just this past weekend that we let you guys know that none other than Mark Hamill has been chosen to voice Chucky in Lar Klevberg's and MGM's upcoming remake of Tom Holland and Don Mancini's CHILD'S PLAY. We're all fans of the casting choice here at AITH but what does the original film's director, the above-mentioned Tom Holland think of the decision to cast Luke Skywalker as new Chucky? Turns out he's all for it!
Yes, Holland took to Twitter yesterday to let the world know that he supports Hamill as Chucky writing simply:
Smart move.
I don't know about you but I'm glad to hear that Holland isn't holding any grudges and thinks Hamill is as good of a choice to voice new Chucky as all the rest of us do. Love it or hate it, with this casting the remake has now become a bonafide must-see.
The upcoming remake's official synopsis reads:
A mother (Plaza) gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
The remake is directed by Lars Klevberg (POLAROID) from a screenplay written by KUNG FURY 2 writer Tyler Burton Smith with STEPHEN KING'S IT producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith producing. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson executive produced. Aubrey Plaza stars as Andy's Mom, along with Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT) as Andy, and Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke co-star. CHILD'S PLAY stalks and slashes its tiny terrifying ass into your local multiplex come June 21, 2019.
