Tom Hardy’s Mad Max owns two covers of Empire

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Tom Hardy’s Mad Max is giving us the death stare from two new covers of Empire Magazine, which should hit stands next month. We can’t get enough early peeks at George Miller’s MAD MAX: FURY ROAD around here, so you can be assured these will be swept up asap.

According to Empire, the February issue looks at the “journey through Mad Max lore, with Miller himself acting as your escort across a two-decade-long Mad Max: Fury Road making-of that took in triumphs, disasters and even an invasion of rogue amphibians. The writer/director opens up about everything from Mel Gibson’s early involvement to Heath Ledger’s possible casting and finally Hardy’s take on Rockatansky.”

Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa. They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee, Courtney Eaton and Nicholas Hoult. It opens May 15, 2015.
