Tom Hardy up for X-Men: Apocalypse? Plus more Doctor Strange casting rumors

Ok, so things are getting a little out of hand with Scott Derrickson's DOCTOR STRANGE. At this point, it would almost be easier to list the actors Marvel hasn't been rumored to be interested in to play the Sorcerer Supreme, all because Joaquin Phoenix decided to pass on the project.

Tom Hardy was reportedly one of the actors Marvel was considering, however yesterday we learned he might be up for David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD, and now sources have told The Wrap he's also being eyed for the title role in Bryan Singer's X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Doesn't look like Hardy will be playing Doctor Strange, but it's does sound like he might be appearing in an upcoming comic book movie. The question is, which one will land the actor: SUICIDE SQUAD or X-MEN: APOCALYPSE?

Which brings us back to DOCTOR STRANGE. According to The Wrap, Colin Farrell, Keanu Reeves and Benedict Cumberbatch are all in the running to play the character. The site also claims there's still a chance Joaquin Phoenix will join the Marvel film, but the actor's publicist told The Wrap the Doctor Strange talks are "dead dead dead. A couple of weeks ago they mutually decided to part ways. It was over before the New York Film Festival."

Keanu Reeves and Benedict Cumberbatch have both been previously rumored to be up for Doctor Strange, but this is the first time we've heard Colin Farrell's name attached to the role. While Cumberbatch, Farrell and Reeves are believed to be the three frontrunners, Jared Leto, Justin Theroux and Oscar Isaac are still very interested in playing Doctor Strange. Don't forget, there's also Ryan Gosling, who recently met with Marvel about the Doctor Strange role.

I'm positive I am not the only one who is kind of sick of Doctor Strange casting rumors, and hopefully Marvel will make a decision soon on which actor will play the Master of the Mystic Arts.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE opens on May 27, 2016, and DOCTOR STRANGE starring TBD will be in theaters on July 8, 2016.
