Tom Hardy to lead Bosnian War film My War Gone By, I Miss It So

Geez, you'd think that after starring in Christopher Nolan's DUNKIRK, Tom Hardy would be looking forward to taking his leave from the Hollywood battlefield, though we've got some news that would imply the exact opposite. Today, Variety is reporting that Hardy has announced that he will produce and star in the Bosnian War film MY WAR GONE BY, I MISS IT SO.

Based upon the 1999 novel of the same name by Anthony Loyd, an English journalist and war correspondent. As of the moment, JANE GOT A GUN and THE ACCOUNTANT's Gavin O' Connor is set to direct as well as produce alongside Palantir Group's Scott LaStaiti. MY WAR GONE BY, I MISS IT SO is presented as Lloyd’s personal account of the Bosnian War, and alternates between his experiences in Bosnia and personal reflections of his time in the British army, his parents’ divorce, his estrangement from his father, and his addiction to heroin.

When speaking about the project, Tom Hardy stated, "My War Gone By is a brutal yet sensitive story which addresses both the nature of addiction and the experience of war. I was struck by Anthony’s work and words, experiences, and for me his is an important voice and an important book.” Following up Hardy's comments was O' Connor who said, "Anthony’s memoir was love at first page — a portrait of war like I’d never read before. An up-close-and-personal account of a heroin junkie reporting from the front lines of Bosnia — the bloodiest conflict Europe has witnessed since the Second World War — who uses the high of war to kick his drug habit. It’s a book written with both fists. It’s Anthony’s ‘Apocalypse Now.’ I feel privileged and honored for the opportunity to bring the book to the movies.”

As an actor who's never hungry for work, Hardy's got a number of projects currently on his plate. For the moment, Tom is serving up his performance as James Keziah Delaney in the TABOO TV series. From there, Hardy is set for a trilogy of exciting films of which include MAD MAX: THE WASTELAND, STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, and Marvel and Sony's curious VENOM adaptation.
