Tom Hanks back to WWII for In the Garden of Beasts

If there are two things Tom Hanks loves, it’s World War II and the moon. The actor has devoted much of his time to both of them, starring in films about them, but also producing or narrating other features focusing on them, and now that trend continues.

Hanks has just partnered with Universal to option WWII novel, whose full title is THE GARDEN OF BEASTS: LOVE, TERROR AND AN AMERICAN FAMILY IN HITLER’S BERLIN. As that won’t fit on many posters, it will probably be shortened to IN THE GARDEN OF BEASTS.

The story follows US Ambassador William Dodd living in Berlin under Hitler, but having to deal with the more pressing problem of his socialite daughter who had affairs with characters ranging from a Gestapo official to a Soviet spy.

Sounds like a cool story, and if Hanks does end up starring, it will likely be a very memorable role for him.
