Tom Hanks and Ron Howard to start filming Dan Brown’s Inferno in April

Someone get Hanks an iron already.

Last summer we learned that Tom Hanks and Ron Howard were teaming up again to bring us another Robert Langdon adventure with an adaptation of Dan Brown’s INFERNO. They will be skipping over “The Lost Symbol” for now which might confuse a few scholars of the books but it is what it is. Now Sony Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have set an April 2015 start in Italy on INFERNO. We know that Tom Hanks is coming back to reprise his role as Harvard symbologist Langdon, Ron Howard will direct and Brian Grazer will produce alongside Howard. David Koepp who wrote the passable ANGELS & DEMONS will pen this entry too.

Here is a synopsis:

In INFERNO, Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He teams up with Sienna Brooks, the doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante’s Inferno. Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces…Dante’s Inferno. Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust… before the world is irrevocably altered.

If you’re not the audience for these movies but still wonder why they keep making them, behold the power of the box office:

I’ve seen THE DA VINCI CODE and ANGELS & DEMONS yet I couldn’t tell you what they were about. Forgettable entertainment, that’s all it was for me. I will still watch this one as I've seen and will see every Tom Hanks movie; that’s the power he has over some of us right?

INFERNO has been given a tentative release date of December 18, 2015.
