In some alternate world that hasn't been shut down by a global pandemic, audiences would have been flocking to theaters for a variety of blockbusters, including Christopher Nolan's TENET. After months of playing chicken with COVID-19, Warner Bros. finally pushed back the release date of TENET and elected to roll the film out in a rather unconventional way; On August 26th, the film will roll out in international territories such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, and the United Kingdom, before hitting select theaters in the U.S. on September 3rd.

Well, the first screenings for TENET have occurred, and in the audience was none other than Tom Cruise, who masked up for his return to the theater where he was seated beside what appears to be his MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 director Christopher McQuarrie.

While Tom Cruise may have loved TENET, the first reviews haven't exactly painted the film as God's gift to cinema. That said, Nolan fans are sure to enjoy it and pick it apart for years to come.

The official synopsis for TENET:

John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle “Tenet.” Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time. Not time travel. Inversion.

As I mentioned above, TENET will roll out in international territories on August 26th, before coming to the U.S. on September 3rd.
