Tom Cruise & Henry Cavill suit up in a Mission: Impossible 6 set photo

The fuse for Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) latest adventure was lit when production on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 got underway earlier this month, and writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has been keeping fans updated via Instagram. We still don't know exactly what this sixth installment of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE series will entail, but it's probably safe to say there will be more than a few epic stunts which will put Tom Cruise in harm's way and keep the executive producers up at night.

After posting an image of Rebecca Ferguson's return as Ilsa several days ago, Christopher McQuarrie put up the following image of Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill on the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 set, and it looks as though they're preparing for something foolhardy.

Henry Cavill is a new addition to the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise and it's said that he will be playing "some sort of right hand to the head of the Cruise’s unit." Along with Tom Cruise, the film will also see the return of Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson and Sean Harris. Joining Henry Cavill on the newbie side are Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) and Sian Brooke (Sherlock). McQuarrie has teased that the film will give us a "very different" Ethan Hunt and explore his character in a deeper way than any of the previous movies did. As for the action side of things, Tom Cruise has spent an entire year training for an action sequence which will apparently "top anything that's come before."

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 is set for a July 28, 2018 release.
