Tobey Maguire would be interested in returning as Spider-Man in more appearances

Spider-Man: No Way Home sported some incredible nostalgia kicks. It was not only a pleasure to see all the villains back, but Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire brought the house down with their appearances. The official Marvel website recently caught up with the former Spider-Men with a book on the making of the movie, Spider-Man: The Official Movie Special, due out next month.

Maguire reflects on his experiences returning to the career-defining role and says he is totally down to suit back up in the web if they came calling. Maguire expounds, “I love these films and I love all of the different series. If these guys called me and said, ‘Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?’, it would be a ‘yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?”

It sounds as if he would like to come back for more special appearances instead of a full-blown sequel. Since the return of both former Peter Parkers, and a seemingly redeeming arc for Andrew Garfield’s incarnation after the guilt of Gwen Stacy dying, fans of the Amazing Spider-Man movies tossed around the idea of a completion of his trilogy, one even involving Tom Hardy’s Venom. It’s a pipe dream, though, but Garfield relished in having every incarnation bring their own experiences to the table.

Garfield speaks on how he felt the collaboration worked, “We all came with our own history and with our own relationship to the character in our own films. I think what really was wonderful, and how it unfolded very early on, was Tobey and I felt very aligned and very clear about what our intentions were for being there. Ultimately, it was to serve Tom as an actor and, as characters, serving Tom’s Peter Parker. I think from that place, everything flowed. It enabled Tobey and me to have a bit more fun maybe than we would’ve had if we were the ones fully carrying the story.”

Spider-Man: The Official Movie Special is due to hit shelves on February 28, but you can now pre-order it on Amazon.
